Overview

Editorial opinion

The WR3000 brings the popular Filogic 820 platform and open-source Wi-Fi drivers to a very low price, which made it a common budget pick on the OpenWrt forum.

Two things to watch: only 16 MB of flash, which limits extra packages, and a confusing range of versions, some of which have shipped with flash chips not yet supported by OpenWrt.

  • Hardware revision warning. Only the WR3000 v1 is covered by this OpenWrt image. Cudy sells several similar models (WR3000 v2, WR3000E, WR3000S, WR3000H, WR3000P); Amazon.com currently lists the WR3000 V2.0, which is different hardware. Newer units may also use a flash chip that OpenWrt does not support yet. Check the exact model and version on the label before buying.
